ICD FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Prize: Winner-Takes-All…out for drinks!

Rules:
In weeks 1-2 select the winner of 1 game. In weeks 3-17 select the winners of 2 games. Each team that you select to win can be used only one time in the season; therefore, over the course of the 17week season you will pick each of the 32 NFL teams to win once and only once. A tie game will be counted as a loss. Each game correctly selected is worth 1 win for a total of 32 possible wins. The player with the highest win total at the end of the year is the winner.

Playoffs/tie breakers:
In the event of a tie in the standings at the end of the regular football season: The first tie breaker will be the first round of the playoffs. There will be 4 games that weekend, and players will pick each game against the spread as set forth in the San Francisco Chronicle on Thursday morning (I’ll e-mail everyone the spreads as a confirmation) Whoever gets the most games right against the spread will win the tie breaker. If players still remain tied, the same procedure will be followed up until the Super Bowl. In the event players remain tied until the time of the Super Bowl the 1st Super Bowl tie breaker is the winner of game; the second is against the spread; and if players are still tied at this point, the final tie breaker is total points scored in game.

Time picks due by:
Each week, your weeks' selection(s) must be e-mailed to jso07@yahoo.com by 9:00 P.M. PST on Thursday (NINE P.M. ON THURSDAY). Every Friday/Saturday you will receive an e-mail with current standings, each players' picks for the upcoming games, and a list of what teams each player has used up to that point.

How to Enter:
The first game of the season is Thursday, September 8th (TOMORROW). Make your first selection by 6pm PST on Thursday, September 8th, and make sure you leave your name and your 2011 Team Name.

Failure to call; Charged losses:
Unfortunately any player failing to place his selection by 9 p.m. may be charged 1 loss in weeks 1-2 and 2 losses in weeks 3-17. Additionally, any player who selects a team that he has previously used will be charged with a loss for that game.

To avoid players with charged losses having the advantage of additional teams to choose from at the end of the year, any player receiving a charged loss will be charged with having used a team(s) that week on which he failed to place his call. The charged team will work as follows: From the alphabetical list below the player will get charged with a loss with the first team on the list which he has not previously used which lost that week; if the player has used all of the teams which lost that week, he will be charged with a loss with the first team on the list which he has not used which won that week.

No Picking both sides of the same game:
You cannot pick both sides of the same game. This is illegal and will result in 2 charged losses. Warning: don't leave yourself only two teams that are playing each other in the last week (Week 17), because you can only pick one team to win that game. Therefore if you pick it right you go 1-1, if you pick it wrong your record is 0-2 for the final week.

Previously the question came up on whether a player could use a team during their bye week, so as to get rid of a bad team and give the player more maneuverability down the stretch. This tactic is illegal, and will result in a charged loss. This charged loss will be treated in the same manner as if the player in question had not called in a pick. The loss will be charged in accordance with the chart above. Furthermore, the team which had the bye will not be considered "used" by the player, as the team did not play a game that week.
